Quickly Stop Cravings For Junk With Green Smoothies
Thursday, March 4th, 2010I strongly feel that it isn’t too far off to propose that consuming a variety of green smoothies could offer virtually all the components that your human body needs to stay healthy. Short of perhaps Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D, I believe, these beverages offer it all (with protein to boot). This biggest issue for me when I started out on the smoothies were the unhealthy cravings. I would like to begin by telling you that the contents of this article just my opinion based on data I have read regarding health and from the 10+ years living and eating the way I have daily. Also, with my blood work results every 6 months which shows no deficiencies, I believe that this information is valid. Maybe it works just for me, my genetics and body type, I can’t say for sure. However, just like cigarette smoke will certainly have an affect on each one of us with various degrees of health negatives, the green smoothie diet, I believe, will certainly have an affect on each one of us with various degrees of health positives. Try it for yourself, after you speak with your natural, or other, health practitioner first of course.
The body is equipped to heal itself correct? If that’s the case, why are people sick? Perhaps it is in inaccurate statement that the body is truly designed to heal itself? No! The problem is that people today a) do not provide the body with the right amount of raw materials, usually by way of diet, it requires to reset itself and b) we bombard it with crap that hinders the functionality of the limited number of resources that we do supply it.
I’m a big admirer of raw foods. The suggestion that heating food past a specific temperature destroying required enzymes that are significant to assimilation makes sense to me. Beyond that, it is suggested that to get the most out of our food we should masticate it until it’s gone. Our body has troubles handling big pieces of food. Also, I really feel that men women and children can survive and thrive with a a diet of primarily fruits and green vegetables, with the occasional healthy fats. Healthy fats in the form of avocados, soaked nuts and seeds is all I consume.
The main meals I consume every single day are comprised of lots of raw fruits and green veggies in the form of green smoothies. Being in a liquid form, my body is able to assimilate the nutrients without a problem.
A giant hurdle for a lot of people when switching diets, and a big one for myself is coping with cravings for unhealthy foods. Just like someone addicted to drugs or alcohol must go through a detox so they can heal, we essentially have to do the same thing. Our cells are comprised of stuff from foods that we have consumed in the past. The body may crave much of the same unhealthy foods that contribute to the contents of the individual cells in our bodies. With a drug detox, often times, sauna therapy is used to sweat out the drugs. That generally helps eliminate the physical drug cravings allowing the person a better chance of staying sober. For us, improving our eating may very well enhance the clearing of toxic foods as well which can be conveniently removed in our poop, sweat and perhaps urine. However, we still might crave those foods while some of the toxic elements in our cells are still present.
I find that quickly after having the first swallow of my green smoothie my cravings for greasy foods, meat, sweets, salt, etc began to decrease. After I was finished drinking the smoothie, the unhealthy cravings vanished completely and I would be content. The concern then was that the unhealthy cravings would come back as I became hungry. So I started to make sure I was on top of it and would have another green smoothie ready before the cravings would reoccur, or not too long after they started. The unhealthy cravings in due course subsided for good as I cleaned out my body. Suddenly I started to crave greens instead!
